Observership Program

Enhance Your Learning and Exposure
The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to offer avid learners the opportunity to shadow our team during work rounds to enhance their learning and exposure to Internal Medicine. This is a hands-off shadowing experience, as per policy set forth by Texas Tech School of Medicine.
Learners will have the opportunity to observe physician interaction with patients (with the patient's permission), engage in thoughtful discussion of clinical cases, review medical literature, enhance clinical knowledge, and experience the teamwork involved in caring for our patients, with opportunities for scholarly activity.
Who should apply for the Internal Medicine Observership Program?
This observership program is designed for graduates of an approved medical school who aspire to participate in a U.S. clinical learning experience.
Information for Applicants
Our observership program now accepts the USClinX Verified Application as its credential intake standard. This means applicants complete a single verified application once and submit it to our program- with credentials, background screening, and health documentation already verified.
How to Apply
- Complete your USClinX Verified Application at usclinx.com. USClinX verifies your credentials,
runs your criminal background screening, and confirms your health and liability documentation,
then issues your Verified Application.
- Submit your Verified USClinX Application to our program through our Apply Now form,
along with your date preferences.
- Provide the following program-specific items, which USClinX does not handle:
-
- Headshot (for badging purposes)
- Date preferences for your observership period
Implementation note: CV, ECFMG/USMLE documentation, transcript, letters of recommendation, immunization records, and USMLE score reports are no longer collected here — they are part of the Verified Application. Only the headshot and scheduling items remain program-specific.
Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. While we ask for date preference, upon approval you will be emailed the dates that are available. Preference listing does not guarantee you will receive those dates.
