Program Length

Upon completion of prerequisite courses, the RN to BSN program can be completed in 2 semesters or 30 semester credit hours.

Articulation Agreements are made between the School of Nursing and community colleges to promote a seamless transition between associate's degree graduates and their move to a university. It identifies each school's required coursework so students take all necessary courses. Admission Requirements

Applicants are reviewed by the RN to BSN Admissions and Progressions Committee and are evaluated individually and holistically, not allowing any single attribute to be the determining attribute in the admission decision. The actual number of students offered admission is dependent upon a variety of attributes, such as financial resources, classroom space, and available clinical experiences

Note: International students with F1 and F2 status are not eligible to apply to an online program.

All applicants who receive offers of admission will be required to consent to a criminal background check. A history of criminal conduct or convictions may result in withdrawal of the admission offer. See Criminal Background Checks section of the School of Nursing Student Handbook for the School policy. No student will be allowed to matriculate without a cleared criminal background check.

Current RN license without restrictions or stipulations.
Nursing degree verification from the pre-licensure program.
Submission of NCLEX-RN results may be delayed no later than the end of the first semester of the RN to BSN Program for applicants who meet academic admission requirements.
Submission of NCLEX-RN results may be delayed no later than the end of the first semester in the RN to BSN Program for Early Decision students.
Submission of NCLEX-RN results must be received by the Student Affairs Enrollment Management Coordinator prior to the completion of NURS4234 Integrating BSN Concepts for concurrent students admitted under a Dual Enrollment Agreement.
A minimum GPA of 2.0 for nursing courses. Nursing courses must be completed at a Board of Nursing approved program with either ACEN or CNEA accreditation or at a school with institutional accreditation by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Higher Learning Commission (HLC), New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), or Western Association of Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
A minimum GPA of 2.0 for prerequisite courses. If a GPA is below 2.0 in nursing courses or prerequisite courses, the applicant must submit a letter to the Admissions and Progressions Committee requesting a review for admission consideration. The letter must provide rationale for the GPA below 2.0 and describe strategies in place to promote success in the RN to BSN Program.
Proof of English proficiency is required for all non-U.S. citizens unless the requirements for an exemption have been met. Information on accepted English proficiency tests and exemptions can be found at the 91PORN SON International Applicants Page.
All general education requirements (Core curriculum) and prerequisites must be documented on an official transcript before enrollment in nursing courses.
The number of withdraws from previous courses is considered. Texas state law permits students to withdraw from up to six (6) courses while enrolled in institutions of higher education. See Texas Education Code Â§51.907. Applicants with seven (7) or more withdraws on their transcript will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Although the 91PORN is part of the Texas Tech University System, legally it is a separate institution from Texas Tech University. Therefore, students applying to the 91PORN School of Nursing RN-BSN program must apply directly to the School of Nursing via the 91PORN online application. All application fees and placement fees/enrollment deposits are non-refundable.

Admission is on a rolling basis and is divided into the Admission Review Periods as outlined below.
To be reviewed for a particular periods, all application materials must be submitted and complete by the indicated date.
All students who meet the required deadline for the review period will have the same chance of being offered admission to the program regardless of whether the application was received at the beginning or end of the review period.
You need to have all prerequisites completed or proof of enrollment provided in order to receive an offer of admission. All prerequisites must be completed and proof sent to Coordinator prior to the first day of class.
If the application is not complete and submitted, your application will not be reviewed.

Applicants interested in applying for financial aid (student loans, grants, scholarships) upon admittance to the School of Nursing must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at . The School of Nursing requires a FAFSA on file to be eligible for scholarships offered by the school.
